New/Old Recliner

I've been looking for a recliner for our bedroom for some time and I did not like the HUGE puffy new versions that I' was seeing everywhere.  We have this cute little thrift store that I pass everyday in our area and the owner always has his "wares" sitting out on the sidewalk, lawn and parking lot.  It's all I can do to keep the car from pulling in there every week.

About 2 months ago, I spied this old chair on the sidewalk. It is a recliner...the angels were singing.  $45 later, it was mine.

Here it is with it's new cover and face lift.  I had the upholsterer remove the gathering in the back cushions and I spray painted the rattan.  One day when I actually clean up our bedroom, I'll post a photo of it in it's new home.

Next Project...
This old gate was left over from one of our rental houses when the old fence was replaced.

 I took it apart

removed all of the screws and nails,

cleaned up each board and whitewashed some of the "dirty" areas with old white Annie Sloan Chalk paint.

After that, the boards were placed a little closer together and added onto the horizontal boards.  They may or may not be leaning a little.  Adding more character I say.

Now it's time to bling it up just a little bit

Can't you see it propped up on a mantle and having the flexibility to change the art any time you like?
Any nail holes that are created and exposed once the art has changed is only more character!
It's a Win/Win!

Last one...

I painted these picture frames with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in duck egg blue.

This is after the 1st coat. I'm still trying to get the hang of the chalk paint/waxing afterwards process.

I plan to put some photos that I took years ago on the North End of Cumberland Island in these and hang them in our Master bath.  Again, got to clean up so I can show the after shots of these too.

That's it for now. There are other projects but this post is long enough and if you have stayed to the end of this one, I thank you!

See ya in the trenches,
Nan
